SFMC Email Tech Development Manager
The Role:
Manage, execute, and optimize Salesforce Marketing Cloud email and mobile development for the organization's customer-centric email marketing program, ensuring flawless delivery while driving channel efficiencies and effectiveness.
Responsibilities:
Develop, build, and test email communications within Salesforce Marketing Cloud using Content Builder, Data Extensions, Journey Builder, Automation Studio, Mobile Studio, and related programming languages.
Design and develop multi-channel customer journeys within Journey Builder, ensuring scalability and maintainability, with technical leadership and best practices.
Serve as a subject matter expert on Automation Studio, Data Extensions, Mobile Studio, Content Builder, and related SFMC tools.
Write and optimize SQL queries to manage and manipulate data within SFMC databases, including troubleshooting and data validation.
Program dynamic, data-driven emails and landing pages utilizing AMPscript, Journey Builder, Automation Studio, API integrations, and SSJS, while reviewing and improving code quality across the team.
Promote and share industry best practices related to development, strategy, testing, and accessibility.
Collaborate closely with marketing and data teams to translate campaign requirements into robust technical solutions.
Ensure adherence to best practices in email development, including personalization, segmentation, data management, and deliverability optimization.
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to email campaigns and SFMC platform performance.
Stay up-to-date with Salesforce Marketing Cloud features, industry trends, and emerging martech innovations to continuously improve team capabilities.
Support code reviews, knowledge sharing, and documentation to maintain high- quality standards.
Drive innovation in customer communications and template design, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Collaborate with deliverability and rendering partners to monitor and ensure optimal communication performance.
Oversee the development of personalized, dynamic content and its integration into commercial and loyalty communications.
Maintain, evolve, and expand a modular email template codebase, ensuring consistency and reusability.
Assist in resource planning and workload management within the email development team.
Requirements:
Educational Attainment
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Marketing Technology, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Critical Experience & Expertise
Salesforce Marketing Cloud Email Specialist certification or Salesforce Certified Marketing Cloud Developer certification (required).
Minimum of 3-4 years of hands-on experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud, including AMPscript, Journey Builder, Automation Studio, Content Builder, and Data Extensions.
Strong working knowledge of SQL, AMPscript, and HTML for email development, troubleshooting, and dynamic content.
Demonstrated project management skills in multi-stakeholder environments, including organizing, planning, and executing large-scale projects.
Experience working with data privacy regulations such as CAN-SPAM, GDPR, or CCPA.
Technical Skills & Knowledge
Strong marketing automation strategy and implementation experience with email products, CRM tools and systems.
Experience engaging and influencing cross-functional working partnerships in a global organization.
Experience working within a complex business with a range of stakeholders with different needs.
Ability to maintain a service-oriented team culture that delivers consistent, high-quality work.
Strong project management skills to juggle multiple projects, often with tight deadlines.
Excellent organizational skills with extreme attention to detail, accuracy, and accountability.
Strong interpersonal and above-average communication skills.
Nice to have
Familiarity with Mobile Studio and integrating mobile messaging campaigns.
Experience with project management methodologies (e.g., Agile) and tools.
Additional Salesforce Marketing Cloud certifications beyond the required one.
