Jr Security Analyst
The Role:
We're seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Junior Security Analyst to join our cybersecurity team. As a Security Analyst, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the security and integrity of our organization's networks and systems. In this dynamic and fast-paced environment, you will be responsible for identifying vulnerabilities and implementing measures to mitigate security risks. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and enforce security policies and procedures, and to monitor and respond to security incidents.
The Security Analyst role requires a proactive and analytical mindset, as well as strong technical skills to effectively assess and protect against potential cyber threats.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor and analyze security event logs, network traffic, and system activity to identify potential security threats
- Assist in incident response efforts, including threat containment, eradication, and recovery
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify areas for improvement
- Implement and maintain security measures to protect against cyber threats, including configuration and management of Microsoft Defender and Sentinel
- Collaborate with IT teams to ensure compliance with Microsoft 365 security best practices
- Develop and maintain documentation of security procedures and policies, aligned with ISO27001 and GDPR EU standards
- Stay up to date with emerging threats and technologies, recommending security enhancements and improvements
- Participate in security awareness training and education initiatives
- Manage and analyze vulnerability scan results using vulnerability management tools (e.g., Nessus, Microsoft, Qualys, Rapid 7)
- Prioritize and remediate vulnerabilities based on risk and impact
Requirements:
- 1-2 years of experience in cybersecurity, preferably in a security analyst or related role
- Proficiency in Microsoft products, including Microsoft 365, Microsoft Defender, and Sentinel
- Experience with Linux operating systems and command-line interfaces
- Familiarity with CIS security controls and other frameworks i.e., NIST
- Knowledge of ISO 27001 and GDPR EU compliance requirements
- Experience with security monitoring, incident response, and penetration testing
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Cybersecurity, or related field
- Experience with Tenable vulnerability management tools
Nice-to-Have:
- Security certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CISSP, CEH)
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell)
- Familiarity with cloud security platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS)
